FaceTime uses the Apple ID for authentication and works closely with other Apple services.

Following the forensic data backup, any available FaceTime artefacts are analysed alongside other communication and system data. Timestamps, metadata and logs are correlated to provide a clear overview of technical relationships. All stages of the investigation are documented in a way that allows the process to be reproduced.

What you should know

Not every FaceTime call leaves the same traces permanently. Synchronisation, deletion processes, the operating system version and the backup method all influence the extent of the available evidence. The absence of entries does not allow for a blanket conclusion that no communication took place.

FaceTime artefacts can provide important clues about communication events. However, their significance only becomes apparent when they are assessed in conjunction with other forensic data sources.
